Dele Alli: What Stopped Tottenham?

Everton Sign Alli on Two-and-a-Half-Year Deal

April 16, 2024

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli has joined Everton on a two-and-a-half-year deal for a fee that could reach £40 million. The 26-year-old had fallen out of favor at Spurs under manager Antonio Conte and had not featured in the club's last five Premier League matches.

Alli has struggled to regain his best form since suffering a hamstring injury in January 2022. He made just 10 appearances for Tottenham in all competitions this season, scoring one goal and providing one assist.

Alli was a key player for Tottenham during the 2016-17 season, scoring 18 goals and providing nine assists in all competitions. He helped the club finish second in the Premier League and reach the semi-finals of the Champions League.

However, Alli's form has declined in recent seasons, and he has been unable to hold down a regular starting place at Tottenham. He has been linked with a move away from the club for several months, and Everton have finally managed to secure his signature.

Alli is expected to make his debut for Everton in their Premier League match against Manchester United on April 22.
