Broncos Injury Report: Who's In and Who's Out for Week 1

Quarterback

With Drew Lock out due to a sprained thumb, Brett Rypien will start at quarterback for the Broncos in Week 1. Rypien has never started an NFL game, but he has some experience as a backup. He appeared in five games last season, completing 59.6% of his passes for 530 yards and one touchdown. He also rushed for 59 yards and one touchdown.

Running Back

The Broncos will be without running back Phillip Lindsay for the first two games of the season due to a turf toe injury. Lindsay is the Broncos' leading rusher from last season, so his absence will be a big blow to the team's offense. Royce Freeman will likely start in Lindsay's place. Freeman rushed for 510 yards and four touchdowns last season.

Wide Receiver

The Broncos will also be without wide receiver Courtland Sutton for the first two games of the season due to a knee injury.
